what is the square footage of an 80 foot yacht?
my grandfather and i were recently cruising through the harbor looking at christmas lights and we passed by and extraordinary-looking yacht, which we both estimated to be about 80' long or so. it had a level below deck, the main deck, and and upper deck with a control room. we got into an argument about the square footage of such a yacht would be. we have a bet running about the square footage of yachts this size. does anybody know where i can find the square footage of an 80' yacht? better yet, does anybody own a yacht 80' or so in length that knows the square footage of his or her vessel? thanks!
In trying to figure the footage it can be a trick.As with most yachts including my own i have alot of room but yet alot is built in.Such as cabinets dinettes and the like.That takes away alot of the SQ footage but at the same time is does not take away the live-ability of the yacht.Mine is 52 ft i would guess i have around 700 SQ FT .And that would be a rough guess.Most compare it to a Mobile home of about the same length adding the fact too that i have to levels so that figure doubles.My last yacht was 77ft and proved to much for me to handle as i am getting older but she was figured at two decks she was about 1700 sq ft.About the average for a mid size house.I down sized for my health and the fact i run alone and it was getting a bit to much alone.Hope this helps Terry
