Pelosi, is she right to stop the Protect America Act's renewal?
Congress has known for six months that this ability [foreign to foreign "eavesdrop"] under the Protect America Act was set to expire on Sunday. So last week, by an overwhelmingly bipartisan majority, the Senate passed legislation to prevent the authority from lapsing. But the House Democratic leadership, led by Speaker Pelosi, refused to let the House vote on the bill.

On this one thing, she did right.
I hate Pelosi. She is a horrible Speaker. Pelosi and Reid have allowed bush to own a Democratic congress and Pelosi has taken Impeachment of Bush and Cheney off the table.
The Bush administration has repeatedly taken actions that go well beyond the scope of presidential powers. If action is not taken to censor these actions, they become precidences and these actions become de facto powers of the Presidency. The Bush Admininstration has broken the system of checks and balances that has allowed the US to survive for 200+ years. And the short-sighted Pelosi has allowed that.
There is enough evidence that suggest the Bush administration lied to get us into Iraq. The Speaker should open an impeachment investigation. If Bush is innocent, he will be proven innocent. The impeachment process is important. These are lies that have cost America gross amounts of money and American lives.
This is why presidential impeachment was put in place --- to correct Presidential abuse of power --- not to grill someone over cheating on their spouse.
Clearly these lies have national repercussions and are in that, far worse than Clinton's actions. Impeachment proceedings were brought against Clinton and technically You Could make a strong arguement SHOULD have been brought against Clinton. There is no question Bush should also face impeachment.
It is shameful that Pelosi is refusing to carry out this neccessary action.
Impeachment of a standing president sets precidences that control the abuses of future presidents. Failing to do what your job requires so you don't risk tipping the election away from your party is damn near treasonous in my book.
She should do her freaking job so some President doesn't do far worse in the future.
I wonder if Nancy Sheehan is still going to run against her, because I would like to contribute to Sheehan's campaign if she is.
