Is fibreglass easy to repair?
Hi! A friend is giving me his old fibreglass canoe as he needs the space.
The bottom is very scuffed and worn, and could do with a general tidy. It is still water-tight and at the moment the damage is mainly cosmetic, but I want to take care of it so the worn parts do not develop into holes and leaks.
Is this an easy process? What do I need to do? Thanks!
The outside of the canoe is a thin coloured layer called Gel Coat which normally does not have any fibre in. You can paint or resin fill the scratches but any re-enforcing fibreglass should go inside to keep the outside smooth.
